Jackie was a dream to work with! She truly cared about my book and took the time to get to know me and the hopes, dreams, and concerns of my current manuscript. I was nervous to share my manuscript with an editor but immediately after meeting Jackie, I knew I could trust her with my precious manuscript baby! Meeting on zoom before and after the edits made all the difference and Jackie goes above and beyond in her services. The edits I received were detailed, thoughtful, and tailored to what I was looking for in an edit.
I worried that an editor would want to change my whole book, but Jackie's edits only strengthened what was already there, furthering the themes and heart of the story that I wanted to stay true to. Because Jackie took the time to understand me, she really understood my book, and helped give me that extra push to take it to the place I've been wanting my book to go! Though it may sound weird to say about an editor, I was absolutely touched reading her edits because I really felt seen. I kept thinking to myself: She GETS it!
But on the flip side of that, she also brought a fresh new perspective. Her insights were incredible valuable, pointing out connections, and sharing brilliant ideas I hadn't even come close to thinking about. It's clear that her years of experience, make her an incredible editor, both meeting you with where you are and delivering fresh insights. I also learned a lot from Jackie. She didn't just offer a critique or share an idea, she also went into detail on HOW I can make those changes. Much of my backstory was getting muddled and beta-readers had a lot of questions. The magic in my manuscript left a lot of questions too. Jackie's suggestions helped me to simplify and explain the magic in a way that made sense, she even tied it back to my theme! This is just one of the many ways Jackie helped elevate my story. I could not have asked for a better experience! Jackie is warm, intentional, professional, and has such wisdom, expertise, and knowledge to share.
